Growing up, many of us had fond memories of the classic Little Tikes Cozy Coupe car. Who could forget the red body, the mustard yellow roof, and how we used our feet to propel the tiny vehicle?
Well, now that we’re older and have our driver’s licenses, the Cozy Coupe has got a whole lot better.
Brothers John and Geoff Bitmead and their friend Nigel Douglas got together in 2013 to transform a Daewoo Matiz into a completely street-legal replica of the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe. To transform the Matiz into the fun little Cozy Coupe, the team chopped off the top of the car and replaced it with a replica of the mustard yellow roof and frame. Much like the original, this car still doesn’t have any windows. Next, the team shorted the wheelbase of the car so that it looks like the driver is sitting just in front of the rear wheels, just like they would in the original car.
The one thing the team didn’t do to modify the car is remove the engine.
Could you imagine propelling an adult-sized car with just your feet? Yikes. The Matiz’ engine can go from 0 to 62 mph in under 17 seconds. You might just want to wear a helmet!
Together, the brothers and their friend own Attitude Autos in Oxfordshire, England.
They say the car cost approximately $58,000 to modify, which is approximately 1,160 toy-sized Cozy Coupes. Amazing! I would totally prefer to have this model instead
