The Copeland family was on the “trip of a lifetime.”
According to the Statesman, they had traveled from Texas to Europe, stopping in Pamplona and Barcelona in Spain before hitting the South of France, just in time for Bastille Day.
The family — Sean, Kim, Maegan, Austin, and Brodie — had gathered to celebrate Kim’s 40th birthday and Austin’s 22nd birthday.
They shared photos of their travels with loved ones back home, including this picture of youngest son, Brodie, sent just yesterday.
The Copelands were among 30,000 people gathered for a Bastille Day celebration in Nice, France.
In the midst of that celebration, around 11 p.m. local time, a truck barreled through a 1.2 mile strip in the center of Nice, known as the Promenade des Anglais, killing 84 and injuring at least 200 more.
Two of the victims were Sean and Brodie, tragically killed in the presence of Kim, Austin, and Maegan.
Sadly, this is the photo that was shared announcing their devastating news:

Sean and Brodie are two of seventy-seven Americans who have died in terrorist attacks since July 2015.
Our prayers are with the Copelands, and all of the victims’ families, during this difficult time.
